The Houston Dash have re-signed midfielder Kiki Van Zanten to a two-year contract that will run through the 2026 NWSL season, with a mutual option for the 2027 campaign, the club announced on Friday.
Van Zanten, 23, made her mark in her first season with the Dash but was sidelined after sustaining a season-ending foot injury in April. Before the injury, she played in four matches, with one start. Despite the setback, her resilience and determination to return to full fitness impressed the Dash organization.
“We are excited about what Kiki can bring to the team next season,” said interim general manager Erik Ustruck. “Her resilience has stood out as she navigated her recovery, and her versatility will be invaluable as we work on building a new identity for the club. Players like Kiki will be essential in laying the foundation for the direction we’re headed.”
The Dash selected Van Zanten with the 21st overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft, adding her to their roster after a standout college career at Notre Dame. Over her four years at Notre Dame (2019-23), she netted 27 goals and provided nine assists in 95 appearances.
In addition to her success at the collegiate level, Van Zanten represents Jamaica internationally, scoring one goal in nine appearances for her country. Her experience with the Jamaican national team will bring an added dimension to the Dash as they work toward future success.
The Houston Dash look forward to integrating Van Zanten into their squad as they continue to develop their roster for the upcoming seasons.
