Islamabad, 26 February 2025– Qaiser Nawab, a renowned advocate for human rights and social justice, visited the Police Khidmat Markaz & Reporting Center for Transgender in Islamabad, where he met Nayab, a distinguished transgender rights activist and in-charge of the center’s transgender wing.During his visit, Nawab appreciated the Islamabad Police for their commitment to protecting the rights of the transgender community and other marginalized groups. He found the police center to be a safe, inclusive, and progressive space dedicated to ensuring justice and equal citizen rights for all.Reflecting on his decade-long struggle for transgender rights, Nawab remarked:“A decade ago, when I began advocating for the rights of the transgender community, the challenges were immense, and hope was scarce. However, today, I see significant progress. Society is gradually accepting the fundamental rights of transgender individuals, and institutional support is forming in the shape of legal protections, constitutional recognition, and dedicated platforms like this Reporting Center.”He highly commended Nayab for her relentless dedication and leadership in empowering the transgender community and ensuring their voices are heard. Her work at the Reporting Center stands as a testament to the resilience and strength of the transgender rights movement in Pakistan.Nawab reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for an inclusive society where every citizen, regardless of gender identity, enjoys equal rights, dignity, and security. He urged continued collaboration between civil society, law enforcement agencies, and policymakers to build a more just and equitable Pakistan.
