During the visit, the signing of several official agreements between the two countries and the deepening of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China create opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial economic and political relations for both countries. This could lead to the realization of joint projects in the energy and trade sectors.
Azerbaijan’s strategic geographical location enhances its role as a bridge between Europe and Asia within China’s “Belt and Road” initiative. Thus, Azerbaijan gains easier access to European markets, while its importance in Europe is also increasing. The agreement to strengthen the alignment of the “Belt and Road” initiative with Azerbaijan’s “Revitalization of the Silk Road” state development strategy and the social-economic development strategy until 2030 is also of significant importance.
A Joint Statement on establishing comprehensive strategic partnership was signed during the meeting of the leaders, emphasizing the decision to strengthen mutual cooperation in areas such as trade, investments, green energy, and digital economy, as well as to create a working group for investment cooperation to contribute to the high-quality development of bilateral economic cooperation. In this regard, increasing the trade volume between the two countries can lead to further integration of their economies.
Ultimately, Ilham Aliyev’s visit to China can be regarded as a significant step towards economic development, energy security, and regional cooperation. These relations will further strengthen Azerbaijan’s position in the international arena and enable it to effectively fulfill its role as a bridge between Europe and Asia.
Azerbaijan’s emphasis on Taiwan being an inseparable part of Chinese territory indicates that China will stand by our country against the smear campaigns of Armenia and its allies regarding Azerbaijan.
The mutual agreement between the two countries on issues related to language and cultural policy clearly demonstrates that evaluating Azerbaijan-China relations solely from a political-economic perspective is insufficient. The future expansion of cooperation in health, sports, cinema, and television, as well as the strengthening of friendship ties among youth and academic circles, will also contribute to Azerbaijan’s greater prominence in the Caucasus.
All these factors indicate that Ilham Aliyev’s visit to China will bring long-term and sustainable benefits to Azerbaijan. It is undoubtedly true that this visit will increase Azerbaijan’s strategic importance in the region and ensure the country’s more active participation in the modern economic landscape.
