The Council for Global Affairs and Development (CGAD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Jonatan Purificação Muti as a member of the CGAD Global Youth Advisory Board for the 2026–2027 term, recognising his commitment to youth empowerment, education, international cooperation and sustainable development.
Kevin Jonatan Purificação Muti is a final-year Law student from Timor-Leste currently pursuing his studies in Portugal. His academic interests and international engagement reflect his dedication to public policy, international cooperation, educational development and creating meaningful opportunities for young people.
With a particular interest in education and youth leadership, Kevin is passionate about exploring how international cooperation, inclusive policies and educational opportunities can empower younger generations and contribute to sustainable development. His academic journey reflects his ambition to connect legal knowledge with practical initiatives that address contemporary social and developmental challenges.
Kevin participated as a CGAD International Funded Delegate and Speaker at the Global Youth Impact Summit (GYIS) Porto 2026, where he contributed to international discussions on youth empowerment, sustainable development and the role of young people in shaping inclusive societies.
During the summit, he engaged with young leaders, professionals and changemakers from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds, exchanging perspectives on global challenges and exploring opportunities for international collaboration.
Beyond his participation in international youth programmes, Kevin has been involved in volunteering and educational initiatives, including his work with Uma Amerika in Timor-Leste. These experiences reflect his commitment to expanding educational opportunities, encouraging youth participation and supporting initiatives that enable young people to develop their potential.
His work and interests particularly align with SDG 4: Quality Education, recognising education as an essential foundation for sustainable development, social inclusion and long-term economic opportunity.
As a young professional representing Timor-Leste, Kevin brings an important perspective to international conversations on education, public policy and youth empowerment. His academic experience in Portugal, combined with his engagement in educational initiatives in Timor-Leste, has strengthened his interest in cross-cultural exchange and international cooperation.
The CGAD Global Youth Advisory Board brings together emerging leaders, academics, professionals, entrepreneurs and youth advocates from diverse backgrounds and regions. Its members contribute their knowledge and perspectives to CGAD’s international programmes, youth initiatives and efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
As a member of the Advisory Board for the 2026–2027 term, Kevin will contribute his perspectives on education, international cooperation, public policy and youth leadership. His participation will support CGAD’s efforts to strengthen international youth engagement, promote cross-cultural understanding and encourage collaborative action towards sustainable development.
His appointment reflects CGAD’s commitment to providing a platform for emerging leaders from diverse countries, including developing nations, to contribute to international dialogue and participate in initiatives addressing shared global challenges.
Through his continued academic and professional development, Kevin aspires to contribute to a future in which young people have greater access to education, opportunities for meaningful participation and the resources necessary to become active contributors to their communities.
His involvement in the Advisory Board will provide further opportunities to represent Timorese youth perspectives, strengthen international partnerships and contribute to initiatives advancing inclusive education and sustainable development.
