The Council for Global Affairs and Development (CGAD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ahmad Hweidi as a member of the CGAD Global Youth Advisory Board for the 2026–2027 term, recognising his contributions to international relations, diplomacy, civil society engagement and international cooperation between Latin America and the Middle East.
Ahmad Hweidi is a Brazilian-Palestinian professional whose work spans international relations, diplomacy, media, human rights and international development. His professional and academic journey reflects a commitment to strengthening dialogue between regions, promoting international cooperation and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He currently serves as Executive Director of Associação Fórum Latino-Americano de Solidariedade entre os Povos in Brazil, where his work involves engagement with parliamentarians, academics and civil society representatives across Latin America. Through this role, he contributes to initiatives focused on human rights, sustainable development, international solidarity and cooperation between Latin American countries and the Middle East.
Alongside his professional responsibilities, Ahmad is pursuing a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations at Schiller International University, complemented by academic engagement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). His academic interests reflect his dedication to understanding international institutions, diplomatic engagement and the role of multilateral cooperation in addressing contemporary global challenges.
Ahmad has actively participated in CGAD’s international youth initiatives, including the Global Youth Impact Summit (GYIS) 2026 in Porto, Portugal, where he contributed as a speaker. He also participated as a speaker at the inaugural Youth Forum on UN Global Goals (YFGG) in Istanbul, Türkiye, engaging in international discussions on youth leadership, diplomacy and sustainable development.
Through these engagements, Ahmad has contributed perspectives on international relations, regional cooperation and the importance of strengthening connections between young leaders from different geographical and cultural backgrounds.
His work particularly aligns with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals; and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. These priorities reflect his professional interests in diplomatic dialogue, inclusive development, international partnerships and the role of civil society in addressing global challenges.
With experience connecting institutions and communities across Latin America and the Middle East, Ahmad brings a cross-regional perspective to international youth engagement. His professional activities highlight the importance of creating opportunities for dialogue between policymakers, academic institutions, civil society organisations and emerging leaders.
The CGAD Global Youth Advisory Board brings together emerging leaders, academics, professionals, entrepreneurs and youth advocates from diverse backgrounds and regions. Its members contribute their knowledge and perspectives to CGAD’s international programmes, youth initiatives and efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
As a member of the Advisory Board for the 2026–2027 term, Ahmad will contribute his experience in international relations, diplomacy, civil society engagement and regional cooperation. His involvement will support CGAD’s efforts to encourage international youth dialogue, strengthen cross-regional partnerships and promote meaningful youth participation in global affairs.
His appointment reflects CGAD’s commitment to bringing together individuals from different regions and professional backgrounds who share an interest in international cooperation, sustainable development and constructive engagement on global challenges.
Through his continued work in diplomacy and international relations, Ahmad seeks to strengthen connections between Latin America and the Middle East while encouraging greater collaboration among institutions, civil society and emerging leaders. His participation in the Advisory Board will provide further opportunities to advance these objectives through international youth initiatives and collaborative programmes.
